Location

Smith Island is located in the Chesapeake Bay about 8 miles west of the town of Crisfield. It is accessible only by boat. You can arrive via your own boat or catch one of the ferries or mail boats leaving the Crisfield City docks every day.

The Island lies between two bodies of water, the great Chesapeake Bay and Tangier Sound. There is a main thoroughfare that cuts through the center of the island allowing access from the bay or sound.
